Hi, I’m Meea.
I’m a young entrepreneur from Queenstown who started Ahi Candles with a lot of passion, a lot of late nights, and full boss babe energy. My genuine obsession with making things that are beautiful, high quality, and actually worth buying is what gets me out of bed every morning.
I’ve always been drawn to anything aesthetic, if it looks good and feels good, I’m in. When I started making candles and people’s reactions went from ‘oh cute’ to ‘I have to have this’ I knew I was onto something. That reaction never gets old.
Ahi isn’t just a business to me. It’s how I show up for myself and for the people I make these for. Every candle is made with care, with quality ingredients, and with aroha, it goes into everything we create. I’m proud of what we’re building, and believe me I’m just getting started.
Every Ahi candle is handcrafted from scratch using the best ingredients we can get our hands on. We use premium soy wax for a clean, long burn and top it with crystal clear gel wax that actually looks like ice in a glass — because if you’re going to make a cocktail-inspired candle, you may as well commit.
Our scents are made with high-throw fragrance oils so the scent actually fills your room — not just a faint hint that disappears after five minutes. We’re talking real scent, real quality, real results. Each candle in the Curated Collection is inspired by an iconic drink, and we’ve worked hard to make sure both the look and the scent deliver on that promise.
We started selling at local markets in Queenstown, and the response was immediate. People stopped, picked them up, and fell in love. That direct connection with our customers taught us so much about what people actually love and we’ve carried every bit of that feedback into every candle we’ve made since.

Ahi Candles is a whānau run business, and as people of Ngāi Tahu descent, we carry that identity with pride. Our name isn’t just a brand it’s a reflection of who we are and where we come from. Bearing the name Ahi means something to us, and we don’t take that lightly.
